  1. Letters between David Lewis and Professor Elkin (University of Sydney) 1975 relating to the publication of Lewis' article in Oceania, and includes six (6) photographic prints of maps and sketches and five (5) black & white negatives 15.5cm x 11cm (with no accompanying prints): Enclosures:
    (a) Map 23cm x 18.5 (with cross-sectioned insert) of the cross country track taken in May 1972 from Snake Creek to the Ulowarrina Waterhole, with geographical markers and camp sites.
    (b) Map of Australia (25cm x 30cm) showing the location of the the route taken in the Western Desert by Lewis and his party in 1973, 1974.
    (c) Map (25cm x 30cm) of the route taken to Papunya, noting waterholes and place names, 1973, 1974 (plus a 'proof print').
    (d) Print of the Muaranji Rock Hole, painted by Big Peter Tjupurrula after first visit and sung and explained on second. He is Noranka Nyinanyi Loritja. This was his father's country. A Dreaming story about an old woman who killed boys (2 copies).
    (e) Graph of the six sacred places and the eight cardinal points (4 copies)
    (f) Graph of the sixteen pointings while travelling (excluding the six sacred places, the eight cardinal points and the four when not travelling). (4 copies)
