It changed its name to the Australian Vegetable Growers' Federation in 1962 and operated until 1979 when it amalgamated with the Australian Wool and Meat Producers' Federation, the Australian Wheatgrowers' Federation, the Australian National Cattlemen's Council, the Cattlemen's Union of Australia, the Australian Seed Producers' Federation, the Australian Woolgrowers' and Graziers' Council, and the Australian Farmers' Federation to form the National Farmers' Federation.

The amalgamation formed a new peak body, the National Farmers Federation.
