This deposit contains papers relating to the Hamlyn-Harris family's time in Undine Bay, Vanuatu (New Hebrides).
Papers include land titles, maps, land sale and lease documents, employee documentation, legal documentation and correspondence, financial records including import/export records, family and business correspondence, a patent application for a cocoanut extraction device (1950-1951) and correspondence from the New Hebrides condominium authorities. The deposit includes official invitations and programs for events run by the condominium ambassadors including visits from members of the British Royal Family from 1969-1978. There are certificates for prizes awarded at the Port Vila Agricultural Show in 1973 and 1977.
There are a selection of official communications from authorities during WWII (1939-1946) relating to the impact of the war in the area. There are four copies of the Corsair Courier newsletter from Feb to Mar 1944.
There are papers relating to the independence of Vanuatu in 1980 including pamphlets, election candidate flyers and the program for the Independence celebrations held 26-30 Jul 1980. There are two copies of the 'Constitution of the Republic of the New Hebrides'.
There is a copy of an ANU research paper entitled 'Post-Independence Vanuatu: The Politics of Land' by Dr. A.D. Ward from a seminar in 1982.
There are copies of newsletters including Voice of Vanuatu (1980-1981), Voice of the New Hebrides (1979), New Hebrides News (1973-1978), British Newsletter (1971), Tam Tam (31 Oct 1980), Philatelic Bulletin (Jan 1973), New Hebrides nakamal (1973), Australian Friends of Vanuatu (1989), nasiko (1980) and a selection of newspaper clippings from Australian and Vanuata.
