Caption: A Papuan laboratory assistant, Sepa Leke, dissecting mosquitoes to ascertain whether they are infected with malaria. This work is being carried out at the headquarters of the Public Health Department’s malaria control pilot project at Maprik in the Sepik District. This project is undertaking extensive tests to ascertain the degree of malaria control which can be achieved by spraying the interior of all houses with residual insecticides.
