Title imposed. Caption on the reverse of the photograph: "Indian 'Lazin' Labasa Fiji 22/1/X This is the 'Lazin' built at the 'Upper [unintelligible]' it is made in tiers of bamboo frames and covered with colored tissues papers. Of course the colors do not show in the picture: but it is not a bad looking affair is it! Seems a pity that it should meet such an untimely end!" Captions reflect the attitudes of the author at the time they were written, and do not reflect the values of the archives. These photographs were taken during 1909-1910, when Owen was working for the Colonial Sugar Refining Company in Fiji at Labasa, and printed on postcards.
