Material relating to the Republic of Vietnam elections, 3 Sep 1967, where candidates were grouped into slates by common platforms rather than in political parties.

Includes leaflets circulated by ten presidential slates, with one leaflet missing; leaflets circulated by 42 Senate slates, with six leaflets missing; one large sheet listing all candidates in Senate slates 25-48. There is also a two-page document by David Marr dated 10 Apr 2017 with some notes on the election and the material.

An Accidental Academic by Rodney Baxter

Professor Baxter's memoir includes his reminiscences as a PhD scholar at the ANU from 1961, as Research Fellow 1965-1968, Fellow and Senior Fellow then from 1975 Professorial Fellow in the Department of Theoretical Physics in the Research School of Physical Sciences. He retired in 2002 as Professor in both Theoretical Physics and in the School of Mathematical Sciences.

This material was collected over the course of Marr's career. Some early material relates to his time in the United States Marine Corps. Some earlier material dates Marr's postgraduate studies and the Berkeley Free Speech movement in the 1960s. Most papers are related to Vietnam, including material collected while he was co-director of the Indochina Research Center in the 1970s and while editor of Vietnam Today,1978-1982. Some of this material was collected for the IRC by John Spragens.

Most papers related to Marr's academic work in the 1970s-2000s, including papers and material for his MA thesis, as well as monographs and books edited by Marr, including 'Southeast Asia in the 9th to 14th Centuries', 'Vietnamese Tradition on Trial, 1920-1945' and 'Vietnam: State, War, and Revolution (1945–1946)', and 'Vietnam 1945: The Quest for Power'.

Other material covers the Vietnamese Union Cataloguing Project and projects relating to Vietnamese scripts on computers in the 1980s-1990s, including the Vietnam Internet Project (VIP). Marr's involvement in Australian-Vietnamese scholarly exchanges in the same period also forms part of the collection.

Some material in this collection contains accounts of torture and/or images of injuries.

The papers document Sigrid McCausland's contributions to the archives profession in Australia over thirty years including employment as the University Archivist at the Australian National University at a time that the Noel Butlin Archives Centre was threatened with closure, as the first Education Officer for the Australian Society of Archivists, and as an academic at Charles Sturt University undertaking research and teaching archives administration and where she completed a Graduate Certificate in University Learning and Teaching. Activities for the Australian Society of Archivists, the Archive Forum (relating to the National Film and Sound Archive), the Australian Society for the Study of Labour History and the International Council on Archives include conference presentations, workshops, articles, book reviews and submissions. Research files for articles and book chapters are mainly on archival access, advocacy, public programs and archival education. Project files relate to the review of the Statement of Knowledge for Recordkeeping Professionals in conjunction with the Records Management Association of Australasia, work undertaken for Australian Unity on their records, and a review of the Community Heritage Grants scheme. A series of notebooks from 1999 to 2015 record notes on conferences, seminars, lectures and meetings she attended.

Papers added in 2013 include papers on politics in Fiji, in particular, political unrest, the Indian Diaspora in Fiji, personal correspondence, Fijian local and family histories. Of significance is a file on the South Pacific Nuclear Free Zone (1996-2000) belonging to Graeme Dobell, Foreign Affairs Correspondent for ABC Radio until 2008.

Some material relates to infrastructure projects and social issues in the Australian Capital Territory including New Parliament House, the Canberra Casino, self-government, school closures, Old Canberra Hospital, the Folk Festival, and the proposed very fast train.
